the beginnings of the brochure

my logo sketches from way back..

My Goals

logo

goal: Simple, flowing design, to portray the hair and the child aspect of the organization. I am playing with the idea of the font being a serif font with and exaggerated G, but I believe that a cursive font more like handwriting, might be more suitable.

Expectations of the viewer: I expect the viewer to intrigued by the logo and it to draw in more attention to the non profit organization.

Poster

Goal: a poster for a cut a thon, using an illustrated quality. My goal is to get the child like quality of a drawing across in the poster while advertising the cut a thon. I am playing with the idea of the hair being rainbow colored. When kids color, they don’t care what color they use, this is where I got the idea from, but this is also to show how unique the hair is to the children, that need it. Typography, I would like to use possibly the same cursive handwritten font as the logo.

Expectations of the viewer: I would like the viewer to be attracted to the poster by its bright child like quality. And then by the typography, drawing attention to what the poster is about.

Brochure

Goal: I would like to continue the childlike quality in the brochure. Of course this is going to be more of an informative thing about the organization wigs for kids. There is going to be a lot of type, which will be a challenge, but I hope to achieve a good typographic solution to this.

Expectations of the viewer: The viewer will expect to find everything they need to know in this brochure, or where to look. They will expect it to be easy to ready, and easy to follow.

Website

Goal: Easy, playful navigation. Legible, childlike quality once again. Master the use of some basic javascript for a nice pop. Informative, use of images, and photoshop.

Expectations of the viewer: The viewer will expect to find either how to donate their hair to locks of love or how to apply for a wig for their kid. These are the main how to they will be looking for. They will expect it to be easy, because if it is too complicated, they will lose interest.

Some things to think about...

The communication goals of the poster (logo, poster, website, brochure) are…

1. Wigs for kids (making wigs for children with hair loss due to chemotherapy or other illnesses

2. Hair donations (accepting hair donations from people with healthy long hair willing to give it up to a good cause)

3. Cut a thon (invites people to donate money or hair and participate in the cut a thon where long hair is chopped off for wigs for children.

I guess more specifically:

POSTER 2 general focuses: 1. Cut a thon 2. Wigs for Kids

1. Cut a thon poster-persuasive

2. Donate hair

3. A good cause

1. Wigs for kids poster- a bit informative

2. Interest

3. Draw in attention

2. hair (show what it is)

3. a general message/meaning…youth.

WEBSITE

1. easy navigation

2. images of happy children with wigs

3. informative

BROCHURE

1. informative

2. how to… step by step process

3. form for donations

I want my viewers to… do what?

Empathy. I feel like this is a big word, which everyone should be able to relate to. People that are empathetic, are the main viewers of this organization. They are the ones that are willing to donate. I want my viewers to be able to relate to what a traumatic experience it can be to lose your hair, especially as a kid, to being sick. I want my viewer to understand that childhood is an important time of everybody’s life and want to help these children lead a normal childhood.

and here are the rest

Now that I got my blog working...Finally! here are my logo roughs...(really rough)
